Cut

Cut is the most important factor in a diamond's beauty. It determines how light enters and exits the stone, creating the brilliance and sparkle that makes diamonds so captivating. A well-cut diamond will reflect light from one facet to another and disperse it through the top of the stone, creating maximum fire and brilliance.

Expert Tip

Prioritize cut grade over carat weight for maximum sparkle and value.

Color

Diamond color is graded on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). The most valuable diamonds are those with the least color. Lab-grown diamonds offer exceptional color grades at accessible prices, with many stones achieving D-F colorless ratings that rival the finest natural diamonds.

Expert Tip

G-H color grades offer excellent value while appearing colorless to the naked eye.

Clarity

Clarity refers to the presence of internal characteristics (inclusions) or external marks (blemishes). The clarity scale ranges from Flawless (FL) to Included (I3). Lab-grown diamonds typically have fewer inclusions than natural diamonds, offering exceptional clarity at every price point.

Expert Tip

VS2 and SI1 grades are often eye-clean and provide excellent value.

Carat

Carat refers to a diamond's weight, with one carat equal to 200 milligrams. While carat weight affects size, two diamonds of equal weight can appear different in size depending on their cut and shape. Lab-grown diamonds allow you to choose a larger carat weight without compromising on quality or budget.

Expert Tip

Consider just below popular weights (0.9ct vs 1.0ct) for better value.
